Are chain letters real?

I was on facebook and I came across a chain letter and it sad that if I don't post it to 12 threads some one will hide under my bed at 12:00 AM and kill me while I am sleeping and it keeps going and says people that don't believe in chain letter have died because they didn't post it? I posted it to 15 threads but I am sooooo scared Please help me!!!!
