Poll: Is it necessary to put scary warning labels on cigarette packages?

Most people have seen the scary pictures on cigarette packages, such as: a victim of mouth cancer with rotting teeth, a pregnant woman smoking, blackened lungs, etc. Now the labels are getting more graphic and realistic. I think that they want people to know the reality of smoking.... but do you really find that it helps? Thanks for any opinions :)<3
