My dog died today, he got hit by a car. it didnt struck me as much as my first dog that died. why?

Almond Joy died this morning because he got hit by a car. It didnt strike me as bad as my first dog dillon that got hit by a car. We live by a highway that is why. I dont know what to do I have a lil chocolate lab puppy outside on a chain. We are definatley NOT gonna lose him. but why didnt i have any hate or crying towards almond. I loved that dog to death. Idk :(
