How to make faded steering wheel look new?

my Leather bike seat faded on my harley, so a blacked it back up with some boot polish, i know whast you are thinking that it will come of on your hands but if you rub it in correctly allow to dry, it will be fine, i have never got boot polish on my backside after riding it, sounds strange but works!
